What You Can Expect

If we are honest, going to a church for the first time can be very intimidating and sometimes downright scary making the option to stay at home very attractive in comparison to the unknown wilderness of a church service.

We at The Revolution have experienced entering church wondering what to expect, what to wear, how long it would be, is it traditional or contemporary, and would we, with our children and all their noises, be accepted. Well, if you’ve wondered any of these, this section is for you.

What’s the dress code?
We don’t have one! In fact, Pastor Ryan wears blue jeans, sneakers or boots, t-shirts or button ups, and even a Kangol or fitted cap. We want you to be you. If that means wearing a 3-piece suite with gators or a fancy dress and an "Easter Hat", that’s cool. But if that means sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt, that’s fine too.

How long will it be?
We start at 6:00 PM and are usually done by 7:30. No long, marathon church services here. Traditional or Contemporary? Definitely not traditional. We call it "Church Remixed."

The atmosphere of the place we meet in is transformed to a club/café vibe that is laid back and casual. Of course there’s no dress code. We have a DJ that spins Hip Hop and R&B music by Christian artists prior to the service. Our worship utilizes the turntables and incorporates elements of Hip Hop and R&B in the music.

Often we have special guest artists doing Hip Hop, R&B, Spoken Word, and dance. The messages are real and understandable using images, videos, and other multimedia tools to communicate the truth of the Word of God in a relevant way.

The Children?
We understand what it means to have small children and the difficulty they can pose to going out. With that in mind, we have provided several opportunities to engage our young attendees. First, before the message, Pastor Ryan has a time where he calls up the children for "Just Shorties" time. He sits on the floor with them and talks about life and God. For the younger children, we dismiss them after the “Just Shorties” portion of the evening to go to “Shorties’ Church.” This includes teaching, snacks, videos, and more.

As for noise, we actually welcome that. For real, during the message is an excellent time for your children to ask you questions about the message. As well, we know that kids will be kids and they are not perfect, so we won’t escort you out of the building, look down on you or anything like that. Shoot, most of us have young children too!

Sundays @ 6:00 PM

This Sunday we get into message #2, "Under the Cover of Darkness," of our current message series Chop Chop. Last week we took a look at a woman in John 4 who was considered a low class tramp that chopped it up with Jesus and was changed as a result. Sunday we'll look at a completely different individual that chopped it up with Jesus and at the end of it all he could sing with Adele the following: ...
